Dos 95 White Challenge Cup Champions!
Congratulations to the DOS 95 White team for their championship win in the Washington state 2012 Challenge Cup Tournament!  Although they did not have an outstanding regular season record, coach Sam Laity continued to work with them and stressed all year he was focusing their training so they would "Peak" during State Cup.  As a team they did just that!  They got better and better all year and by the first game in the bracket we could tell they had come together as a team. The passing was sharp and everyone hustled hard after each ball.  Each player gave it their all in every game and the results showed in placing 2nd in their bracket to move on in the tournament.

In the Round of 16 bracket play they faced a very good Vancouver Timbers team, and after a nail biter, won the game in a shootout.  Next, in the quarterfinals, they played Seattle United Tango and again won in a very close 2 to 1 battle.  On to the semi-finals last weekend on a very hot, by Seattle standards, weekend.  In the semi-final game they played Spokane Shadow \'95, who in the previous 5 games had outscored their opponents,  20 goals for and only 3 against.  We knew we were in for a very tough game.  But the girls played outstanding!  Both offensively and defensively.  We held them to only 1 goal and managed to get a goal ourselves near the end of the 2nd half to tie it up at the end.  After two scoreless OT periods we won 5 to 3 in a very emotional shootout!  The final game on Sunday was against the Northwest Nationals Blue team.  We started strong and got ahead 2 to 0 early on... It seemed it would finally be an easy victory.  But NWN  scored on a PK to keep it close.  We thought we had the championship victory in hand, but as the seconds were ticking off the clock, and the ref adding time to the game, they kept threatening our goal.  They finally managed to get one in with seconds left and then the Ref blew the whistle!   Another game into overtime,  Arrgghh!   The girls were exhausted after playing in 2 OT games two days in a row (we had very few subs) but we managed to score a goal in the 1st OT, and kept them scoreless in the 2nd OT, to guarantee a Final Championship Win!  All of the girls played with emotion and heart.  It\'s hard to call one or two girls out that played exceptional as they all played amazing soccer, and as a team pushed each other to play at a very high level.

All the parents, grandparents, and friends had a great ride and are very proud of this fun, great group of girls.  We all thank Coach Sam Laity for his help in making it happen.  GO DOS!!!

Dos FC moving in the right Direction...Up!
Congratulations to the Dos FC G94 (U16), G99 Red (U11) and G96 White (U14) who have all won their respective RCL Divisions this Spring. As a result of their success the G94’s and G99’s will be promoted to Division 1 for next season while the 96 White’s will move up from Div. 4 to Div. 3.

Malia Arrant, Dos’s Director of Coaching, said of the achievement, “The achievements of these teams is awesome for the club and is evidence of the great work being done by both our coaches but especially by our players and I congratulate all involved with these teams. It means we’ll have 4 or 5 of the 8 girls age groups playing in the top division next season and I think that shows that we’re moving in the right direction as a club.”

This might not be an end to Dos’ Spring season successes. The G96 Red (U14)finished their season tied for first in Division 2 and although they have an inferior goal difference to Spokane Shadow they are likely to be promoted to Division 1 for next season since they will reach high school age where the divisions have 10-12 teams. Finally, with good results this weekend the 95  White (U15) team have an opportunity to move up to Division 2 alongside their squad mates in the G95Red; we wish them the best of luck!
